Åre resumé

After a great week in Åre I´m home in Stockholm for a short pitstop, travelling to Italy tomorrow again so it´s just to wash and repack but it´s nice just to be in the appartement!

In Åre we were very lucky with the weather, so beatiful alomst allt he time, a bit cold in the beginning -26 in the mornings but it´s just to dress right then it´s no problem. I had a really positive feeling in the DH training runs, it was pretty slow setting so I feld I wanted to go faster and had good confodent on the DH skies witch I haven´t had in the end.  I had 22nd and 15th time in the training runs.
On friday it was the super combi, I started with nr 7 and tried to go for it but in the second last jump I went to straight and missed the gate afterwards..
On saturday it was DH race and it was a bit faster on top so one gate was a bit tricky to fix and a lot of people went out there and the visability was soso, so I was a bit nervous but I smiled the first gates o get calm and then I enjoyed the skiing on the way down and finished 24th, best DH result this year anyway!
In the SG on sunday I wore bib 1, I really wanted revenge from fridays DNF and I went for it all the way, clean skiing and I had a nice flow and I finished 11th with a great support from the Swedish audience! I feld satisfied with that but it was tight only 40 hundreds of a second to the podium… :-)

Weekend

On the way home from Garmisch we flew from Munich over Copenhagen and the plane was 40min late and we only had 45min in Copenhagen so when we landed there 7min before the plane should leave to Stockholm I run lik never before.. Took a trolley put my bag int here and whent criss cross between all people cause the new plane was totaly on the other side of the airport. Running in boots is not to recommend, gate closed didn´t stop me and the lady in the gate was nice to let me and Anja on, puuh closest call ever…

Finally at home I went almost straight to my sisters birtday dinner, nice to meet the family! On Saturday I watched my nieces compete in a dance competition, they are dancing street and Disco but I only had the chance to see street and they are so good, so fun to watch people who really can dance, do it!

Maja and Louise warming up

Saturday evening I celebrated my birthday with some friends who came over to my place, so nice to meet them all and it´s not so often you see eachother, I had a really good time! Offcourse I saw the womens slalom from Garmisch and I´m so happy for Maria who dares to go all in and ski as good as she can and that gave here the Bronze, congratulations Majsan!!! She is so worth it :-)

Me, Linda, Madde and Emelie took a drink down town

Sunday started with the men´s slalom and washing. So exciting second run with all the four guys top 8 from first run. Strong by Jens Byggmark to take the silver, congrats!!!
In the afternoon we went to some friends who just moved in to their house, everything new, bright and a lot of space really beatiful! They are so sweet so they made bot me and Jonas a birtdaycake cause we hadn´t seen them since our B-days, thanks your so cute!

7th in the world!

Yeah!!!
Yesteraday I got 7th in the Giantslalom in the world championships. The day started with a lot of fog so they postponed the start for 2 hours but we were just sitting in the restaurant talking, some playing on the iphone, watching old skiraces on tv, eating käsebrot (thought it would be a sandwich with cheese on but I got like 10 pices of cheese..)

I was a bit passive in the start of the first but then I got rally late in to the steeper part and from there on I was even more aggresive and was doing long arkes and diving in towards the gates. I finished 14th in the first run. Secong was even better no mistakes and the course were much rounder but I just keep on pushing ad when I came down I was 2nd after Tessa Worley(who finished 3rd). But in the end a lot of people had a though time to get i front of me so I finished 7th!!!
I enjoyed skiing and had been looking forward to this race.  It´s such a joy to ski GS when everything is fitting and you have the timing even though I don´t remember that much from the second run! Felt good the end the WSC like this and it was in november 2007 I was 7th in a GS the last time.. Have to keep on working on the GS now and then it can be a lot of fun :-)

WSC Bronze to Sweden!!

Congrats to the Swedish team who won the Bronze in the WSC parallel, Maria Petilä Holmner, Hans Olsson, Anja Pärson and Matts Olsson did a great job and it was really fun and exciting to watch (on tv)! Winner was France and Austria second.
For me it was a nice day, training GS and doing free skiing on the race hill. I feel really excited about tomorrows GS race and the slope is in good condition. Time to put out all the last energi for this WCS and hopefully get something good out of it! I´m starting with nr 26 :-)

Camilla Sandy is our media ladie, she takes care of everything with the press and she´s such a shining star always smiling and doing a good job!

Ruhetag

I like the german word Ruhetag, it fits in with what a day off should be like- ruhe, means calm, easy. You should regain energy both for the head and body. SO today I sleept in, tooka long breakfast and now I´ve been reading some magazines, one fashion that really makes me wanna go look for new spring stuff when I come home and one interior design magazine, to get some inspiration and it´s just fun to watch other peoples homes and check out the latest details.
I´m now back in Garmisch, and in the afternoon we gonna have the press conference for GS, team event and the slalom race. I´m only doing the GS, would have been fun to do the team event, it´s a parallel giantslalom race and I love to go head to head with someone but I wish the other ones good luck for tomorrow; Maria PH, Anja Pärson, Hans Olsson and Mats Olsson is representing Sweden, go go!

Next career, Squash?

Hey ho! Today has been a fun day, Good GS training in Innerkrems with Maria PH, Sara Hector and some guys. Long course, over a minute and good conditions! It had been raining here in reiteralm and not in Innerkrems that´s why we went there.
In the afternoon I was running, sweet to feel the sweat again after a week with less physical training and then afterwards I tried Squash for the first time, it was really fun and you could really get a play even though I was a beginner not as in tennis were it´s so though to get tha ball going for a while. After that I visited the spa, they hava a huge area here at Pichlmayrgut, took a swim outside and then I was sitting in the bubblepool with Dessan! Now I feel loaded with new energy again!

Playing squash with Rudi!

Me, Maria and Sara had a good day in the slope

To make a sum  of the last days; I did the second training run in the DH and it was not much better than the first day, but I really tried to push as hell and be active. I was nervous the whole day before the start. It´s not easy to run that DH and I feld not so comfortable. Yesterday  morning I feld really unsure if I wanted to go the DH I feld not totally well and I didn´t have this feeling that I normally have when it´s race, that you wanna go down as fast as possible and just het out there so I decided to pass the combine and then in the afternoon I also decided to pass the downhill tomorrow so right now I moved to Reiteralm for some GS training. Put all focus on Thursdays race instead!

Pics

Here is some pictures from yesterday and they are all taken from our team doctor Pär Liljeholm.
Todays DH training was though for me I was to passive and when it´s this hard and a bit bumby you really have to attack the course, so that´s my plan for tomorrow. It was a lot of people not starting today, Maria Riesch just started and then stopped cause she´s sick, Lindsey passed cause of here head. Total 6 of the top 30 didn´t start.. I don´t know all the reasons. Enjoy the pictures!

Today!

New swedish world championship hat on!

Starting with nr 1 today was nice, I could do my own plan and not think to much about line and stuff. On top I was really slow, lost 0.77 sec but on the middle section I skied really good and aggresiv and there I had the 2 split, so that I´m pleased with. I ended up 14th. I tried my best today and I went for it and Ididn´r reach the lovely medals this time but maybe next..
Tomorrow I will put out some more pictures. Nighty!
