Lessons learned, goals achieved and vacation done

2 a cupen

Happy moment – standing on the cup podium with a swedish friend

It´s been a crazy, funny, fast, interesting, dreamy, cool and lovely season. I´m very proud and pleased with what I achieved. It was also many new situations and things to learn about my self and to handle the pressure.
I want to thank everyone for their support and help from coaches, teammates, service, sponsors, family, friends, physios, without your pieces in the pussle I could never have done this!
Before the racing in Åre it was a lot of talk about the the GS globe. I forgot for a moment to focus on my skiing and didn´t feel the normal joy to race, I was not comfortable.
I love to race and that´s why I´m skiing, so day 2 in Åre I relaxed remembered why I´m doing this and then it was happy thoughts again!

Rest mood
It was nice to get away on vacation, spend some more time Jonas, rest the body and brain and think of something totally different.

What an atmosphere here in Lenzerheide, fun to see.
So the last World cup race for this season is tomorrow. It will be an exciting race for sure. One of my dream goals since a long time will be achieved tomorrow, starting with Nr 1, cool 🙂
Hope your cheering, good night.

Skiing again

Åre was showing its best side these last days. Beatiful sunsets, clear sky, good conditions on the slope. Good training company & it was fun and nice to ski again! Thanks for the federation office people helping out with training, they have a big heart for the sport and since our coaches has been all over the world last days their help was really valuable.

Now back home for some days and then gathering with the whole team again next week in Åre 😀

Forza Forza

My dreams about a Olympic medal didn´t come true, I came home without this shining thing around my neck. I did my preparations, I was as prepared as I could be, but it didn´t go my way. I had a good first run, second place after Tina Maze half a second behind. But in the second run I never find the rhythm, the tempo or the tracks, I was behind, late in the tracks hit some holes and my goggles got blocked from the snow/rain. It was a tough day with the rain, snow and fog and the snow got pretty rough.
Skiing got more and more static, but I kept thinking positive, maybe it does feel like this for everyone, but not.. I was 6th in the finish and ended up 7th in the end.
The disappointment was brutal, I knew this was once in a life time chance, I will never ski the Olympics again and I blew the chance..
But life goes on, after a lot of tears and good support from family, friends and teammates and coaches I´m now looking forward for the upcoming 3 wc races and 2 of them we will have in Åre!! I will try to rech my other dream, to win the Giantslalom globe.
This is the world of sports!

From Cortina with <3 & snow

IMG_7989

It´s every year kind of the same words from this place, but I can´t help that this is the favourite stop on the tour. I let the pictures speak for it self.
The new thing this year was that we spend two race weeks here, first week was not so good for alpine racing. It was snowing constantly for about 4 days, it came over 1m of snow, amazing how much snow that can come just like that and in this village you notice it pretty well on the small narrow roads around. So no races that weekend..
But then the last weekend we had normal Cortina weather and good conditions on the slope almost all days.
I was happy with my first SG race, then skiing was working fine and with some mistakes I ended up 18th and only 0.35s from top 10.
I did my first DH race this year =) kind of fun but I´m slow..
Second SG didn´t turn out the way I wanted, I was behind already from the start and it was dark and windy, I came late and missed a gate. Pretty unfair conditions with the sun and wind but I guess that´s outdoor sport.

Summarize 2013

So 2013 was a good year, I was happy and healthy and that’s the most important things!

Sweden had a really nice summer which I have good moments from mostly with Jonas but also other family and friends. Boat trips, dinners, training, motivation going up and down, some back problems, a lot of travelling both with the team and private. Some days in Nice in end of September brought me back in harmony! quite days in the apartment, a Great world championship in Schladming in Februari. I became a rep for the alpine women in the athletes commission in FIS, early mornings and off course the biggest memory of the year will be when two of my dreams came true when I won the GS race in Beaver creek and I’m still wearing the red bib 🙂

Enjoy some photos below!

Dream victory!

20131205-125147.jpg

2:nd Michaela Schiffrin USA / 1:st Me SWE / 3:rd Tina Weirather LIE

I made it! I won a Giant slalom race and it was amazing standing up there on the top again. Most emotion came through my mind when they played the national anthem, then it was close to tears but they didn´t come, normally I can be a bit sensitive and have close to tears both happy and sometimes sad tears so I was a bit surprised.

20131205-125155.jpg

I took the lead with 0.9s when I came down with nr 7 in the first run, only that feld like a victory it self. Everything felt easy and I just try to push and go straight and let the skies go all the way, it´s a lovely harmony when everything is fitting, in my bubble mentally and the skiing and timing is there.
Then in the end I was leading 0.44s before Schiffrin and 0.63s before team mate Maria PH.

20131205-125202.jpg

The waiting between the runs were nervous and looong, but it was nice having Maria PH around and we were chatting in the lift together and said we have to take the chance =)
On start I came down and felt more normal and could focus on doing my thing and it was enough for victory, yippy, glad, relieved, happy, I made it… a lot of thoughts came through my mind when I saw the green light!!!

Lojze – the best service man you can get. He is a big part of my success, always happy, doing fast skies and a good person to discuss and make plans with, thank you for everything!

And then I would like to thank all of my loved family and friends for your support and believing in me especially Jonas for always being there for me no matter what ❤
Also to the coaches and team mates in the team for a inspiring tour life and coaching help off course. All sponsors who make it possible to get here!

Beaver Creek

So a bit of an update here from Colorado. We had 3 good SG sessions in Copper, nice to get some more speed in and it´s such a nice hill there. We also did some GS in Vail, it´s working fine in GS but I´m trying to let the skies go even more.
On our day off we went to Denver for some shopping, found some good stuff for me and christmas gifts!

I skied the DH yesterday without success, but it was good to feel the slope and get to know the terrain. Tomorrow it´s time for GS training again and then it´s show time on Saturday and sunday 🙂
Forgot to tell you that we had a Swedish chef cocking for us in Vail the first days, so good to get real food over here and a Swedish touch on it, they call him “the tall swede” but his name is Mats, thank you for all lovely food!!
